Sea Aloe Gold and Ileocecal Valve Syndrome
By Doctor Brice E. Vickery
Another tough condition that seems to respond to Sea Aloe Gold is known as the ileocecal valve syndrome (ICV). This condition is an important but largely unrecognized key to spinal health and the health of the entire body. This valve is located between small intestine and the first section of colon, the cecum. Its job is to prevent the toxic contents of the cecum from refluxing into the small intestine and to hold the contents of the small intestine separate from the cecum long enough for nutrient absorption to occur. ICV occurs when the valve stays open, causing toxins to enter the absorptive tissues of the small intestine or constricts closed keeping the waste material from moving through into the cecum. ICV can be caused by infection, stress, adrenal fatigue, chemical irritation of the nerves (as in food allergies) or mechanical misalignment. Many people who are protein deficient will have at least mild intermittent ICV. Some people have severe ICV. Most people don’t even know they have it. Some times it presents as severe lower back pain and people are advised to have back operations! Symptoms of ICV include: dark circles under the eyes, back ache, fluid retention, stiffness and pain in the right shoulder, sinusitis, nausea, aching muscles, and vertigo. The ileopsoas group is often involved, presenting on either or both sides as hyperactive or weak (Often the weak group can be identified by their lack of lumbar curve). Morning back ache is a very important symptom as it is practically diagnostic of this condition. ICV can cause serious problems such as liver toxicity and sinus infections that move into the teeth. It can cause reflux conditions in the entire gastro–intestinal system and toxic elements to enter the bloodstream through the villi casing a host of other problems. In my opinion, it is one of the most under–appreciated conditions in medicine. Once again, most cases of ICV can be turned around with the standard Vickery Fibromyalgia Protocols. Most ICV is pure protein deficiency. For instance, one protein, gastrin is produced in the stomach during digestion and is carried along in the chyme through the small intestine this hormone helps the valve to relax open when it is time for the contents of the small intestine to pass through into the colon. If a protein deficient system is not producing gastrin correctly, then the ICV valve will not respond properly. This is just one small example of how protein deficiency can effect an ICV. Remember, 9 out of ten people do not properly digest their dietary protein, this means the protein is putrefying in their gut and producing tremendous amounts of the chemical indican, which can affect an ICV causing it to malfunction. This chemical can be measured in the Urinary Indican Test. Also, a protein deficient gut is usually struggling with yeast overgrowth and inflammation caused by gluten, these two things alone can cause a swollen, toxic ICV that has that has become thick and prone to stick open or closed. This is where the Two Edged Sword Diet is very helpful. Removing yeast and gluten from the diet helps to calm an irritated ICV. In some people with severe ICV I have used the Sea Aloe Gold with wonderful results. The iodine in the kelp is anti bacterial and also is used to make thyroid hormone, which is used by the gut tissues as well as the tissues innervating the gut. The algin in the kelp is effective in binding any heavy metals that are in the tissues and neutralizing their effects on the tissues The aloe is effective in killing off staph, strep, and e.coli bacteria while speeding the healing of the gut tissues. The properties of the aloe leaf also stimulate the immune system helping it to remove toxic elements from the blood, the gut and the ICV itself. It is worth remembering here that a protein deficient system has no immune components to stimulate, or very few, so it is important to give people the Platinum Plus Essential Amino Acids so that the aloe in Sea Aloe Gold will have immune proteins to work with. The glyconutrients in SAG are important components of both the kelp and the aloe vera. These essential sugars coat all the cells of our body, most importantly our immune system helping it to target infections and label them for destruction. Once again, in severe ICV cases I have found the synergistic effects of the Sea Aloe Gold to be greater than either of these plants separately.
